Because of the diverse nature of the many different restaurants and chefs Brian Henry has worked under he is highly proficient at a wide range of cuisines.

Brian’s cooking is seasonal, inventive and smart, but in no way unapproachable or fussy. When he is coaxed out of the kitchen and starts talking about food, his passion and knowledge are instantly recognizable.

"Chef Brian Henry cooked a series of delicious appetizers for us as we sat around a table in the kitchen". Thanks

Tony Aspler, Wine writer

“Chef Brian Henry puts one hundred percent of his energy into going all the way.”

Gastronomically yours,

By The Bushel Community Food Cooperative is growing and we want you to grow with us!

by the BUSHEL Community Food Cooperative

by the BUSHEL Community Food Cooperative

Since 2009, By The Bushel has been bringing fresh, local, organic and ecologically grown produce, meats, dairy and locally sourced goods to the kitchens of Peterborough. Our growing list of producers supply a variety of fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables and they are eager and able to provide more to our membership. Our eaters enjoy the fresh, healthy, pesticide-free bounty.

By The Bushel has a vision to bring together households, producers, local businesses and community organizations who share a passion for building our local economy and a resilient, food system by creating a heart where all of these groups can converge.

Central to this vision, we are planning to move to a larger permanent location, accessible by our members and the community at large. The new location will offer consumer and business members, as well as partnered community organizations access to the best seasonally available produce at a reasonable cost and allow producer members a central point to sell their goods thereby enabling them to spend more of their valuable time farming.

The front end of this location will feature a retail section where shoppers can select fresh picked, local organic produce, frozen meats, dairy and locally sourced prepared goods. Orders can be made in advance through our new, redesigned website for added convenience. The back end of the location will feature space for wholesale delivery and pickups, refrigeration, washing, culling and packing areas. There will also be space for community meetings and workshops.

Our procurement policy is to source local, organic, domestic fair trade produce and products. However, to ensure the highest standards of quality, we also offer certified organic, domestic fair trade options from our neighbouring communities and source non-organic, locally sourced, prepared goods.

By The Bushel Community Food Cooperative aims to be the community leader in fresh,   local   and   organic   produce   and locally

sourced goods.   We’re offering members a simple, easy and affordable means to access local bounty.
